Cat mites on owners

   Cat mites are a danger to everyone in your household. These mites can move to humans and even to other pets. However, they really prefer cats. If you've found that a cat in your house has mites, teat al of them promptly.


If cat mites go form your cats to you, they will burrow under your skin. They'll cause the same itching and inflammation that they cause in your cat.


Cat mites are very small so it can be hard to detect them on your cat. However, if you notice that your cat has small, white dots on their coat, mites may be present. This is what ca mites look like.


You'll also be aware that cat mites may be present if you notice that your cat is scratching a lot or has started to lose a little of their hair. Cat mites usually live near your cats ears, shoulders and head.

Do mites cause mange?

   Both Demodex mites and Sarcoptes mites can cause mange on dogs. There are three species of mites that can commonly be found on dogs.


These are:

Sarcoptes mites

Demodex mites

Ear mites


Demodex mites can what is known as demodectic mange. Sarcoptes mites cause sarcoptic mange.


Both types of mange can affect the condition of your dog's coat. For example, Sarcoptes mites burrow into your dog's skin. That makes them itch and can make them more prone to infections.
